1. Background
To ensure that police peacekeepers are able to fulfill the mandate to protect civilians and to build the host State police capacity in this regard, the Police Division of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) has developed the United Nations Police Gender Toolkit: Standardized Best Practices on Gender Mainstreaming in Peacekeeping (UNPOL Gender Toolkit).
A consultant is being sought to copy edit the UNPOL Gender Toolkit materials.
2. Scope of work
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Management Officer and reporting to the Chief of the Strategic Policy and Development Section of the Police Division (SPDS)/OROLSI/DPKO, the consultant will:
Activity:
Study design briefs and determine requirements.
Establish creative direction and conceptualise visuals based on requirements for print (publication) and digital layout (website) of the United Nations Police Gender Toolkit materials in French and English versions.

Determine the message the design should portray.
Create and incorporate graphics, illustrations, pictures, and designs.
Select colors, images, text style, and layout to enhance the readability of the text and images.
Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and in line with the branding of the United Nations Police.
Produce drafts for review and make revisions based on the feedback received.
Perform retouching and manipulation of images.
Test graphics across various media.
Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software.
Schedule and ensure activities are completed with high quality and on schedule.
3. Required competencies
Work experience: Minimum of three years work experience on graphic design with a compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects.
Minimum education requirement: First level university degree i.e. Bachelor Degree in graphic design, fine arts, communication or any related field.
Language: Excellent written and oral skills in French and English language required.
