Project Assistant for the UN Police Gender Toolkit elearning

1. Background

To ensure that police peacekeepers are able to fulfill the mandate to protect civilians and to build the host State police capacity in this regard, the Police Division has developed the United Nations Police Gender Toolkit: Standardized Best Practices on Gender Mainstreaming in Peacekeeping (UNPOL Gender Toolkit), representing the first thematic grouping of good practice guidance documents and training materials drawn from the Strategic Guidance Framework for International Police Peacekeeping (SGF).

2. Scope of work

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Strategic Policy and Development Section of the Police Division/OROLSI/DPKO, through the Programme Management Officer in charge of the Elsie funded project on the UNPOL Gender Toolkit:

Activity:

  1. Format and adjust the layout of the UN Police Gender Toolkit e-learning course in Storyline Articulate.
  2. Assist in coordinating with Human Resources Management to upload the e-learning course on Inspira.
  3. Support in research and fact checking the name, dates and titles of documents and publications in the UNPOL Gender Toolkit materials.
  4. Support in formatting the UNPOL Gender Toolkit publication such as harmonising the bibliographical references and putting together the list of acronyms, glossary and bibliography.
  5. Assist with any other task as required.

3. Required competencies

The selected candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s degree on communications, journalism, mass media, graphic design, fine arts, education or related field.

At least six months work experience required. Experience in using Microsoft Office applications in particular PowerPoint, Word and Excel required. Experience in using Articulate Storyline an advantage.

English language fluency is required. French language is highly desirable.

The selected candidate should have excellent communications skills (e.g. graphics skills, presentations, visual graphics/communications and experience in online research required) and proficient in planning and organising own work to meet deadlines.

4. Reporting lines

The consultant will report directly to the Programme Management Officer in the Strategic Policy and Development Section of the Police Division/OROLSI/DPKO.

5. Duration of work

26 May to 30 June 2020 (35 days)

Deliverables:

29 May: reformatting of Module 1 on Articulate Storyline; fact checking and research

5 June: reformatting of Module 2 on Articulate Storyline; fact checking and research

12 June: reformatting of Module 3 on Articulate Storyline; fact checking and research

19 June: reformatting of Module 4 on Articulate Storyline; fact checking and research

26 June: revisions and finalization

30 June: coordination for upload onto the learning management system and website
