Role overview You'll lead VSO Nepal's programming team as we embark on an ambitious phase of expansion, building on our highly-regarded programmes in Inclusive Education, Livelihood, Health, Gender and Inclusive Governance and ICS Youth Volunteers. Playing a leading role in shaping a new country programme strategic, you will be working closely with Nepal Business Partner team and VSO global team to raise VSO Nepal's profile, secure funding, network and partner with others and lead the VSO programme team to deliver high quality programming in line with our People First strategy and new programme framework enhancing even greater impact to reduce poverty and inequity in Nepal.
Leading and managing a senior team of heads of programmes and the M&E and Communications Manager, you will be working with a team of professional international and national employees and volunteers, inspiring them to deliver evidence-based, participatory programming that draws on VSO's distinctive people-centred approaches to fighting poverty.

Skills, qualifications and experience required We're looking for a strategic and practical leader with extensive programme management experience in the international development sector. You'll know all about managing complex and multi-stakeholder consortia, working with donors, securing funding, building partnerships, monitoring and evaluation, and overseeing large programme budgets. As a confident leader, you'll be up for the challenge of motivating colleagues and developing a high performance team culture. You'll have demonstrable skills in people management, relationship building, working effectively with multi-cultural teams, and working with international and national volunteers. As well as being analytical and flexible you're results driven and capable of facilitating change. You will have good understanding and experience of evidence-based advocacy with sectoral knowledge in the fields of Inclusive Education, Livelihood, Health, Gender a and Inclusive Governance, and youth development. Your understanding of development issues in Nepal, the role of volunteers in development, social accountability, social inclusion, gender, and resilience will be a foundation for success in this role. And most importantly you share and display the VSO's values.
This is a national hired position based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Eligibility: Nepalese citizen.
This is a one year contract with the expectation of evolving into an open-ended contract pending programme growth and funding.
