Responsibilities
The Associate Evaluation Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist the evaluation project leader with the planning, development and conduct of assigned projects, such as in-depth evaluations of complex programmes, thematic evaluations and ad hoc evaluations or equivalent studies
- Carry out, under supervision, all the tasks involved in the assigned evaluations, conducting data collection and analysis
- Assist in drafting reports, monitoring project development and implementation
- Review the results of projects, relevant documents and reports
- Identify problems and issues to be addressed and recommend corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions
- Assist in policy development based on evaluation findings concerning programme relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and impact
- Undertake evaluation outreach activities
- Assist in developing and conducting training workshops, seminars, etc. to support evaluation, programme monitoring and management review exercises done by other departments; make presentations on assigned topics/activities
- Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc. Contribute to efforts to strengthen the role of evaluation in the United Nations Organization so as to improve programme efficiency and effectiveness
- The Associate Evaluation Officer may, as required, provide support to the Division on Division-wide operational or administrative matters, i.e., work planning, risk assessment, workplan monitoring, Division-wide change initiatives, human resource management, budget management, and general administrative matters, functioning as part of the Division.
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Performs other duties as required.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
Counterparts, officers and technical staff in relevant Secretariat units and in UN funds, programs and other UN specialized agencies.
Representatives and officials in national governments, international organizations, consultants
Results Expected:
Provides well researched and sound analysis of issues and developments affecting programme/project development, administration and implementation, etc. Provides thorough, well reasoned written contributions. Effectively, and in a timely manner, liaises and interacts with colleagues and concerned parties internally and externally.
