What PAH is about:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization. For 25 years, we have been providing relief in emergencies worldwide. We also run missions in several countries in crisis. Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character – have been carried out in 44 countries so far. We concentrate on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), but also implement projects in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), as well as Nutrition and Education. PAH in Iraq

We returned to Iraq at the end of 2016 to respond to the needs of the civilian population caused by the fighting in Mosul. The PAH response team immediately began to provide humanitarian aid to the residents of the city, supplying food baskets and hygiene kits. Currently PAH operates in Erbil, implementing projects from FSL and WASH sectors.

So far, Polish Humanitarian Action, reached over 30 000 beneficiaries in northern Iraq through activities financed by Polish and Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as public collections and individual contributions.

PAH’s current activities in Iraq include:

  • swift reaction to humanitarian crisis in Iraq.

  • improvement of quality of all actions, assuring more adequate humanitarian response, following humanitarian standards and requirements of local communities.

  • response based on complementary programs and projects which are created in coordination with local authorities and local communities.

  • support of Iraqi employees in improvement of personal potential and professional capacity.

Who PAH is looking for:

PAH in Iraq is looking for a Head of Mission. The person will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Lead Mission activities in strategic direction, program quality and growth;

  • Set the strategic vision and direction of the country program to serve more people with responsive, high quality programming, and secure the necessary resources;

  • Align programming to the strategy action plan;

  • Identify opportunities for appropriate expansion and growth of programs;

  • Develop and maintain relations with all stakeholders such as donors, local authorities and other INGOs;

  • Take a primary responsibility for a safety and security management on a Mission;

  • Ensure effective operational management on the Mission;

  • Oversee the administration processes on the mission such as flow of documentation, office and guesthouse maintenance;

  • Ensure compliance with local law, especially in the cases related to working regulations, registration in local authorities (Kurdistan and Bagdad), taxes etc.;

  • Oversee the financial processes on the mission and ensure timely financial reporting to HQ;

  • Oversee the logistics processes on the mission;

  • Oversee the HR process on the mission, recruitment processes and HR documentation;

  • Ensure efficient staff performance management and staff development;

  • Supervise and mentor direct-report staff and lead semi-annual performance reviews;

  • Provide optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness in all functions and operations of the country program;

  • Report to HQ in terms of Mission activities in timely manner.

What PAH requires:

  • At least 3 years of experience in INGO management/coordination (including security management in complex security situations, human resource management);

  • Proven experience in Project Cycle Management and strong project management skills;

  • Experience in managing operational processes within dynamic and challenging operating environments;

  • Good understanding of accounting, procurement and finance procedures;

  • Practical knowledge of HR and logistics processes will be a strong asset;

  • Extensive team management experience, including different levels of subordination (managers, experts, specialists);

  • Experience in representing the organization in front of local authorities as well as international donor agencies;

  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures;

  • Ability to manage a complex and demanding workload;

  • Results orientation, excellent organizational and problem solving skills;

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills;

  • Highly proficient spoken and written English;

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools;

  • University degree (education in management will be an asset);

  • ·Driving license.
