The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflicts and disasters and people affected by social or health related crises. The Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross assists in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects on appeals of their sister organisations within the Movement.
The GRC is currently looking for an experienced Project Manager in Disaster Risk Management (DRM). The ECHO funded project “Strengthening extreme weather and disaster preparedness to enhance the resilience of host and Rohingya communities in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh” aims at training host community and camp-based volunteers on Disaster Risk Management in Teknaf and Western Zones of Balukhali Makeshift Expansion (Mega Camp).
The project is implemented jointly by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and German Red Cross. Based on its extensive experience of community-level training and capacity building and its knowledge of the political and humanitarian context, BDCRS/GRC/IFRC will provide training to Trainers of Trainers (ToTs). Additional activities will include the development of contingency plans at the community and camp level as well as the establishment of coordination mechanisms between the two and the district level. Community-awareness of natural hazards in the host and refugee communities will be conducted. Finally, BDRCS/GRC/IFRC will conduct drills and simulation exercises for cyclone preparedness utilizing the trained DRM volunteers to strengthen the host and refugee communities' preparedness.

Location: Cox´s Bazar, Bangladesh
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Support the implementation of GRC’s DG ECHO funded project “Strengthening extreme weather and disaster preparedness to enhance the resilience of host and Rohingya communities in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh” with GRC as Partner of IOM;
- Ensure that to DG ECHO rules and guidelines are met, especially ECHO requirements related to reporting, financial accountability and visibility guidelines as well as the requirements from partners;
- Monitoring and reporting according to GRC and donor requirements including financial management and budget control;
- Ensure consistent communication, coordination and reporting to the GRC Field Office in Cox’s Bazar;
- Close coordination of project activities and requirements with all RC/RC movement partners in Cox´s Bazar.
Required Skills:
- At least 5 years working experience related to Disaster Risk Management;
- Experience in DRM/DRR and Early Warning Systems is preferred;
- Experience in managing donor-funded projects (e.g. German Government; ECHO);
- Profound management skills to implement a comprehensive development project;
- Profound knowledge and proven experience in Research, Monitoring and Evaluation;
- University degree in a relevant field;
- Ability to work, live and travel in remote areas and an insecure environment, following our security guidelines at all times;
- Ability and agreement to adhere to the Red Cross Red Crescent Fundamental Principles;
- Oral and written fluency in English, German would be an asset;
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member ;
- Readiness to go on assignment without partner / no family posting;
- Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environments;
- Ability to complete a thorough medical screening process 'working abroad under specific climate and health conditions';
- Valid Driving Licence.

In addition to a full insurance package GRC is covering a home flight within a 12-months period of assignment.
