The position is located in the Development and Integration team in the ERP Project office of the United Nations Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance in New York. The team is responsible for the development and Technical integration architecture, Fiori/Apps, SolMan of the Umoja project. The Senior Information Systems Officer (SAP Development, Integration and Applications) will report to the Project Director, ERP Project.

Responsibilities
- SAP Development, Methodology and Technical Integration:
• Conceptualizes and determines the methodology for all Development within the SAP software suite, including for redesign and continuous improvements, to assure resilient and cost effective design, build, testing, configuration and integration activities by alignment to the SAP standard in order to enable optimal implementation, the sustainability of full life-cycle development as well as minimal customization.
• Leads the strategic direction of all developments and associated integration middleware (PO/BPM/BRM) across the ERP Umoja solution by alignment to standard SAP best practices.
• Provides Technical roadmaps for the development and/or integration of non-SAP solutions for Umoja [in-house development and/or third-party vendor].
• Assures effective Design and optimal Implementation of all Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business-to-Business (B2B) and/or Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for appropriate integration roadmaps for all developments.
• Assures sound Business Process Management and/or Business Rules Management for all developments, including for continuous improvements and redesign as well as process mapping for all new developments.
• Manages the daily development and implementation activities across the ERP Umoja solution. - ERP Architecture, Orchestration and Landscape Management:
• Participates in the overall design and implementation of the Umoja solution, including determination of architectural roadmaps, upgrades and integration strategies, enhancements as well as customization proposals, delivering risk/benefit analysis and well-documented plans with solid technical justifications.
• Contributes to the ERP Project team’s analysis on technology and licensing, including via Fit-Gap exercises.
• Leads and directs the Orchestration of all Integration and Development activities across the Umoja Landscape.
• Assists teams and the ERP Release Manager in respect of IT Planning and Release activities using SAP provided tools and applicable methodology [Solution Manager, ChaRM, etc.]. - User Experience Development [UX] and Applications
• Leads the development and implementation of the User experience methodology and tools of SAP’s new product suite and Fiori Framework, including configuration and enhancements of Standard SAP Fiori Applications.
• Oversees the optimal usage of the capabilities of Fiori Development leveraging HANA. - Implementation and leveraging of SAP’s Solution Manager tool:
• Directs the ongoing implementation of SAP Solution Manager tool in order to streamline and fully automate the regular IT planning and monitoring activities of an ERP implementation, including with respect to Change Management Procedures, Release Management Procedures, roadmap planning for Upgrades and configuration, etc.
• Carries out a detailed analysis for the further refinement and implementation of the SolMan solution to improve its functionality, taking into account functional fit and the inter-operability of existing processes and applications. - Other duties and tasks:
• Transfers knowledge, including via production and establishment of relevant technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, statistics or a related field.
- A first level university degree combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems, including experience in the public sector, the United nations or other comparable international organization is required.
End-to-end technical development and implementation in the following SAP technologies:
Technical integration architecture design and implementation, using SAP Process Orchestration (PO) with at least 2 life cycles of PI/PO implementation and integration technologies such as IDOC, XML, Web Services.
Business Rules Management [BRM] and Business Process Management [BPM].
Non-SAP and third party integration (tax services, procurement, payment systems and medical providers).
Practical development of UX Architecture and Integration with at least 1 full life-cycle implementation of Fiori and UX technology, such as SAPUI5/OpenUI5.
Extensive experience working with SAP best practices for Architecture integration, particularly with HANA.
Advanced SAP ABAP development experience including: Dialog programming, Workflow, WebDynpro, Userexits, BADIs, ALV, BAPIs, RFCs and other SAP frameworks.
Experience in Leading Solution Manager Implementation with an emphasis on ChaRM.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
